Toni Cordero Unique Large Bookcase in Ash
Toni Cordero, library bookcase, ash, plywood, Italy, 1972
Italian designer Toni Cordero (1937-2001) designed and made this bespoke bookcase in his own studio in Turin back in 1972. Its substantial size and solid construction command attention effortlessly. The corner bookcase is divided into ten columns, each housing seven open compartments, culminating in a total of seventy distinct sections. Executed in a warm, blond-toned ashwood, the framework strikingly contrasts with the deeper, dark-colored pigeonholes, resulting in a crisply defined geometric arrangement. Cordero's meticulous attention to detail is evident in the gracefully curved slat that elegantly surrounds the sides of the structure, showcasing the seamless integration of form and function in this sideboard.
